Bath: Education Workshop

Our workshops will create school resources for use in the classroom
Our workshops will create school resources for use in the classroom

On 25 March 2025, in partnership with the History of Bath Research Group, we will host a workshop for Key Stage 2 teachers at the University of Bath. This free workshop invites KS2 teachers and education professionals to develop their local place knowledge through active enquiry using bespoke teaching resources and the Historic Towns Trust's Bath Historical Map.

Our Historical Map of Bath, published in October 2024, illustrates the layered history of Bath, revealing the history of the city from Roman times to the start of the 20th century. The map is full of interesting stories and engaging insights into how the city developed, making it incredibly useful for creating teaching materials illuminating local history and geography.

Using this map, we will help Key Stage 2 teachers develop their map skills and fieldwork as we explore this beautiful map and city to gather and interpret evidence about its past, consider its future and appreciate its sense of place.

The workshop will help us to build our educational materials by working directly with teachers to make inspiring lessons about our urban environments. Through the participants help, we will refine our school resources and distribute the final versions, to all attendees (along with copies of the map) to assist with teaching local history and geography at KS2 level.

The event will be led by our Education Consultant, Paula Owens, and, Professor Emeritus of Canterbury Christ Church University, Peter Vujakovic.

Spaces are limited, so if you would like to a reserve place, please register at our Eventbrite page here or email Martin Wills at development@historictownstrust.uk.
